The Unexpected Conversation AI Helped Create
Last month I watched my son Chris take the oath to become an attorney.
Earlier that morning, before the ceremony, Chris and I walked over to the courthouse so he could make sure my husband and I knew where to go later that afternoon.
On the way back, we found a bench across the street and looked up at the statues that lined the roof.
"Who do you think they are?" I asked.
Neither of us knew.
So I snapped a picture, opened ChatGPT, and asked who they were. There were a lot of people on that roof—Moses, Confucius, Justinian, Solon, Lycurgus, Manu, St. Louis, Alfred the Great, and Zoroaster.
It was fun learning why each of them had earned a place on the courthouse roof. Then I asked ChatGPT to create some funny, slightly harder multiple-choice questions for Chris.
Pretty soon we were laughing, debating the answers, and learning a little more about why these particular men had been chosen to share the courthouse roof with Lady Justice.
It turned out to be one of my favorite moments of the entire trip—not because we found the answers, but because we enjoyed discovering them together.
Curiosity creates conversations.
Conversations create connections.
Connections create memories.

Leaders, people often ask me if I use AI.
I do. Every day.
Most people think of AI as a way to get answers. I've found it's also a great way to generate questions.
One thing I've learned is that the same habits that help us communicate effectively with people also make us better at using AI: give it context and tell it your goal.
At work, ask AI to help you prepare. Before a meeting, explain who you're meeting with and what you're hoping to accomplish. Then ask it to suggest a few thoughtful questions that will move the conversation forward.
Outside of work, use AI to have some fun. Don't overthink it. Just play. Curiosity has a funny way of turning ordinary moments into memorable ones.
